Welcome to the farm
Surrey Docks Farm is a working city farm and education charity that enables the whole community to learn about farming, food production and the natural environment. We run a range of projects targeted to engage those who would benefit most and are supported by hundreds of dedicated volunteers who attend on a weekly basis.
Meet our animals
Here at Surrey Docks Farm we pride ourselves in the way we raise our livestock. All our animals are farmed to free range standards and given the best possible welfare.
As a working farm and education charity running on a tight budget, all the animals help contribute to their keep. This includes activities like animal handling sessions, mobile farm visits to community events and schools, as well as selling our quality farm produce.
School and nursery visits
Surrey Docks Farm has an excellent educational reputation. We offer a range of hands-on practical workshops and guided tours tailored to support the National Curriculum and specific teacher requirements. We have a fully equipped classroom, with hand washing and toilet facilities. All visits must be booked in advance.

What are the Farm’s opening hours?
The Farm is open and free to visit from 10am-4pm every day of the week, including bank holidays!
We have a fantastic farm shop within the Farm, this is run by volunteers and is open from 10am-1pm and 2pm-4pm every day.
Please note all organised groups (schools, nurseries, holiday clubs, community groups etc) must book in advance via our Schools page.
What animals do you have at the farm?
We have goats, sheep, pigs, cows, chickens, ducks, geese, rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets and a pony! We also have several bee hives.
We sell animal food for £1/bag from the farm shop, which can be fed to our goats and sheep (and thrown to our pigs).
We offer ‘meet the small animals’ sessions from 12:30-1pm on Saturdays for £2 per person. This gives you a chance to get up close with our rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets and chickens. Please be aware the sessions rely on volunteer support and are weather dependent so may be cancelled at short notice! No booking required,

Can I feed the animals?
We sell animal food for £1/bag from the farm shop, this can be fed to our goats and sheep (and thrown to our pigs).
Are dogs allowed?
Yes, we welcome well-behaved dogs but they must be kept on a lead.

Is there anywhere to buy food/drink?
Outside our entrance you’ll find The Barn, a fantastic coffee shop run by Pear Tree Kitchen. It’s open from 9am – 5pm, and sells hot and cold drinks, pastries, cakes, paninis, rolls and more.
Do you offer lamb bottle-feeding?
Yes, when we have lambs who require it because they cannot be fed by their mums.
