We are offering visitors the chance to bottle-feed our calves every afternoon. Visitors need to meet staff at the bottom of the shop steps at 4:30pm on the date they booked. The session will last approx 15 minutes. One booked slot, equals one bottle, to feed to one calf.

Due to limited space in our barn only two people can attend per slot – one person can feed a calf while the other person watches (either one child and one adult, or two adults).

We only have two calves so if you book two slots on the same date, you’ll have a private session!

We do welcome children, but recommend this activity for those aged 8 or over. The calves do get very excited at feeding time and can be boisterous, even through the fence, and the bottles are heavy as they hold 2.5 litres of milk. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

We will upload slots for the week ahead every Wednesday morning around 10am. Don’t worry if you’ve missed out, the calves will need feeding for a couple of months. Please note we deliberately only release dates up to one week in advance in case the calves need a break from adoring public!

Calf feeding is really popular and slots sell out quickly. We’re an education charity with a very small staff team and no admin support, so we’re not able to reserve slots in advance or keep a waiting list!

The calves need to be fed at the same time and at a regular time. As such we advise you to get to the Farm well in advance to have a look around, then wait at the bottom of the Farm Shop steps just before your scheduled slot time.

The Farm officially closes to visitors at 4pm, but if you’ve booked the calf feeding you’ll be able to stay on and watch the animals get herded into their barns!

We will have to go ahead with the feed if you’re late and we aren’t able to offer refunds!

The calves have come from a dairy farm in Bedfordshire. One is all black and is an Aberdeen Angus cross Holstein Friesian born on 27th June, the other has a white face and is a Hereford cross Holstein Friesian born on 26th June!

As this is a high contact animal activity, we do not recommend those with weakened immune systems take part.

As with all animal activities hand washing with warm water and soap is essential for all participants, both before and after feeding the calves and staff will oversee this process.

We always aim to be accessible and inclusive but as a working farm we recognise some activities will have limitations. Calf feeding takes place within the animal enclosure, through a metal hurdle. The bottle holds 2.5 litres of milk so can be quite heavy to lift.
