Youth Volunteer
We deliver a Youth Programme for children and young people aged 8-18 at the Farm, with regular weekly sessions engaging the same children and adhoc holiday sessions. We rely on a dedicated team of volunteers (aged 25+) to support our experienced Youth Workers in offering a creative, fun, outdoor experience for the young people!
We’re now welcoming enquiries for new volunteers. Please check the form below for current vacancies.
Young Farmers
Young Farmers is a free weekly club for children aged 8-13 to get involved with all aspects of a working farm. Children help with mucking out and caring for animals, growing their own food, learning about environmental conservation, cooking and traditional craft activities; alongside a focus on youth-led social action projects and development of employability skills. We have ten children in each group who attend their set slot on Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.
Greenagers
Greenagers engages a regular cohort of young people aged 13-17 in youth-led activities and social action projects here at the Farm. Sessions are designed and informed by the young people we work with along themes of food growing and cooking, animal care, environmental conservation and rural craft. Greenagers offers a progression route for those in our Young Farmers programme.
What we’re looking for
We’re now recruiting for volunteers who can commit to a regular half day volunteer shift on a weekly basis. It’s important for our young people to have regular volunteers who they get to know and can build a rapport and trust with.
Experience with animals, gardening, cooking or crafts is useful, but FAR more important is a person who is enthusiastic, patient and interested in enabling our young people to thrive and develop. We’re also particularly keen to welcome a male volunteer or someone with experience supporting teenage boys.
Consistency is very important to our young people. This role is particularly suited to someone who can travel to the Farm by foot, bike (or car) in the event of transport strikes or traffic disruptions!
In return this volunteer role provides a great opportunity for anyone looking to gain experience in outdoor education, youth work and development of young people; as well as engaging in a meaningful activity giving back to their community.
Please complete the below enquiry form to register your interest and to let us know your availability. We’ll then get back in touch to invite you to the next group induction at the Farm.
